As the seasons change, so does the accumulation of dust on our window and door screens. For this reason, their effectiveness in keeping mosquitoes away becomes a matter of concern. Here are simple and effective ways to clean your dusty mosquito screens:
Things required for Cleaning Before cleaning, gather your supplies. You need a vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment, a soft brush or broom, a bucket of soapy water, a sponge, or a soft cloth.
Dry Dusting Dry-dust your screens by using a vacuum cleaner. Gently brush away loose dust and debris from both sides of the screen.
Soapy Solution Mix a mild detergent with water in a bucket to create a soapy solution. Take a sponge and gently scrub both sides of the screen with the soapy solution, paying extra attention to areas with stubborn dirt or stains.
Rinse Away Grime Once you have scrubbed the screens thoroughly, use a hose to rinse away the soapy residue and grime. Make sure to use a gentle spray to avoid damaging the screen material. If you don't have access to a hose, a bucket of clean water and a sponge can also do.
Air Dry Allow the screens to air dry completely before re-installing them. During this step, prevent attracting new dust or debris.
Routine maintenance Tips To keep your screens cleaner for longer, establish a routine maintenance schedule. Regularly dusting the screens with a soft brush or using a vacuum can prevent excessive buildup, making deep cleaning less frequent.
